Accessibility

We want Community Treasure to be usable, welcoming and easier to understand for as many people as possible. This page brings together the access information we can currently share about the website, our activities, and the support we can talk through with you before taking part.

General access information

Alternative formats

If you need information in a different format, contact us and we will talk through what would be most useful. We are developing shorter summaries, Easy Read approaches, and clearer access information as the site grows.

Language and communication

We try to use plain, welcoming language and avoid unnecessary jargon. If something we share is unclear, we want to know so we can explain it differently.

Breaks, pacing and participation

Different people take part in different ways. We can talk about session length, breaks, quieter ways of contributing, and how to make the pace of an activity more manageable.

Access worker, supporter or carer

If you need to attend with a personal assistant, support worker, interpreter, or carer, let us know when you contact us so we can plan with you rather than leave this to the day.

Sensory environment

We are paying more attention to movement, visual load, noise, lighting and room setup. If you need more detailed information before attending, ask us and we will share what we know about the space.

Physical access

Access arrangements vary between venues and community spaces. We can talk through entrances, toilets, seating, travel and layout in advance where details are available.

Access information for online activities

Website and online information

We are working to make the website easier to scan and navigate, with reduced automatic motion, clearer headings, visible focus states, and simpler content structure.

Online sessions and events

If an event takes place online, we can talk through platform access, joining instructions, captions where available, and the format of the session before it starts.

Access information for in-person activities

Before you arrive

We want people to know what to expect. Ask us about timing, venue setup, travel, toilets, refreshments, or anything else that will help you decide whether the activity is right for you.

During a session

If something is not working on the day, we want people to tell us. That might include seating, sound levels, group format, pacing, or the need for a break.

Food, drink and wellbeing

Where refreshments are part of an activity, tell us about allergies, dietary needs or anything else that could affect your ability to take part comfortably.

Future access information

We are building a fuller picture of access information for individual Community Treasure activities and venues so people can make informed choices without needing to chase basic details.

Access feedback and next steps

Feedback and lived experience

We want this page to improve through feedback from disabled people, neurodivergent people, and anyone who has found a barrier in our website, communication or activities.
